The South Fork of the American River or "Rio de los Americanos", lurches and bucks through cataracts of boulders, drops and chutes cascading through the rapids of Meatgrinder, Fowlers Rock, Satan's Cesspool and Hospital Bar. This 20 mile Class III South Fork American "Fun Run " makes a great 2-day trip with an overnight stay at our River Park Adventure Camp midway down the run. Also, the 9-mile top half (known as the Chili Bar Run) or the 11-mile bottom half (known as the Gorge) make delightful one-day trips.
On the Middle Fork American "Blaster", a 17-mile long run with many Class IV rapids, we offer both one and two-day trips.
On the 8-mile long and Class IV+ North Fork American "Thriller", we run rousing one-day trips for fit rafters with strong swimming ability and previous rafting experience.
The South Fork and Middle Fork American are great northern California venues for any and all events and occasions including anniversary trips for groups of friends, family celebrations and reward trips for high performers, reunions and a romantic escape, with your honey. Add on to your white water rafting trip some fishing, hiking, camping, mountain biking, rock climbing, gold rush museum touring and wine tasting in surrounding El Dorado County, a Northern California vacation wonderland.
